CHICAGO, IL (Chambana Today) – The American Red Cross requests individuals to make a change in 2025 and become a volunteer.

New Year’s resolutions can be a variety of things like losing weight, sleeping better, and meeting new people. However, the Red Cross is asking you to make a real community difference with your resolution and volunteer. Over 5,000 volunteers are already in Illinois with almost 275,000 worldwide, providing relief for disaster victims, blood products, and support for military families.

“We’re seeing both the frequency and intensity of disasters increase across the country, and the Red Cross is responding to nearly twice as many large disasters as we did a decade ago,” said Catherine Rabenstine, Interim CEO of the Illinois Red Cross. “This uptick in responses means we need more volunteers. The need to help has never been greater.”

Home fires are one of the most common incidents the Red Cross responds to and volunteers in Bloomington responded quickly and effectively with shelter, health services, and support for two victims. Interested individuals can visit redcross.org/volunteertoday.
