URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The City of Urbana recently announced $1 million grant funding to assisting homelessness.
The City of Urbana and the Urbana HOME Consortium, including the city of Urbana, Champaign, and Champaign County received $1 million in funding to assist in providing affordable housing, homelessness prevention, and case management services for people experiencing homelessness. The eligible service areas include:
- Supporting services and housing navigation
- Affordable housing development
- Shelter acquisition/rehab/new construction
- Non-profit operating and capacity building support
Public and private non-profit organizations are able to apply. The Housing and Homeless Innovations Round II is funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, the American Rescue Plan Act, and the City of Urbana general funds. Deadline for applications is Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. CST.
