URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – Robert S. Wease, 82, of Urbana, passed away peacefully at home in Urbana, IL on January 2, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.

Robert (Bob) was born on August 28, 1942, at home in rural Clay City, Illinois, to Jay Dee & Lenora (Butler) Wease, the eldest of seven children. Bob joined the Army at a young age and soon married Doris Welch of Urbana at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. Bob was then stationed in Chatelaillon, France. Doris soon met him there, where they lived for two years. After the military, Bob & Doris settled in Tolono, IL. Bob worked most of his life as a self-employed contractor. He and Doris were members of the First Christian Church in Champaign, IL.

Bob was a hardworking man who loved his family and would do anything for them. He enjoyed telling stories, watching westerns and war movies, listening to country music, and sports.

Bob was preceded in death by both of his parents, his wife of 59 years, three brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his three children: Charles (Angie) Wease, Christine Wease, and Matthew (Tanya) Wease; five grandchildren: Austin Wease, Kierstin Wease, Jordin Wease, Owen Wease, and Emily Wease; and two sisters: Noma McCarty and Norma Mutch.
