DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – Danville Police Officers recently stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation.

The stop happened on Wednesday, January 15 at around 7:30 p.m. at North Bowman Avenue and East Williams Street. The driver was 30-year-old Dejanerha Barrett of Danville and the passenger was 36-year-old Marcus T. Johnson of Danville. Barrett’s driver’s license was found to be suspended and she was arrested. Further investigation then led to officers finding an illegal stolen firearm in the vehicle.

This led to officers arresting Johnson for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Violation of Probation. Barrett was then charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, and Driving while License Suspended. Both Johnson and Barett were booked on their charges at the Vermilion County Public Safety Building.
