DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – Members of the Danville Police Department (DPD) Community Housing Unit stopped a vehicle and arrested the driver for illegal cannabis and a firearm.

On Wendesday, January 22, around 4:45 p.m., the DPD stopped a vehicle around Main Street and Bowman Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver was identified as 22-year-old Deonte J. Anderson of Rock Island, IL. The passenger was identified as 22-year-old Gavin X Jeffries of Ocala, FL. Anderson was identified with a revoked Illinois Driver’s License and was arrested.

Through more investigation with Vermilion County Sheriff’s K9 unit, officers found illegal cannabis along with a firearm with an illegally loaded magazine. Anderson and Jeffries were transported to the Public safety Building where Anderson was booked on Driving While License Revoked and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. Jeffries was initially booked on similar charges of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon. However, upon further deliberation, he was not considered a felon due to previous plea agreements he was involved in.
