University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners present fruit tree pruning workshop

DECATUR, IL (Chambana Today) – The University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners present the best practices for pruning fruit trees in Macon County.

Pruning helps enhance a tree’s vigor, stimulates the flower and fruit productions, and helps achieve a desired tree shape. Interested participants can learn how to help trees bearing fruit in this free hands-on workshop. Fruit Tree Pruning Demonstrations are scheduled across February and March at the Crossing Healthcare Garden in Decatur.

Dates and times are scheduled below:

February 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
February 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
February 28 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
March 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“Come join the Master Gardeners who will teach you how and when to prune your fruit trees and the proper cuts,” says Horticulture Program Coordinator Whitney Allison.
