The Public Works Department will soon be installing three “No Parking in Cul-De-Sac” signs at the end of Holts Drive, off Phillips Drive, to address ongoing issues with MTD Paratransit Vehicle access. The MTD vehicle, which typically turns around in the cul-de-sac, has faced difficulties doing so due to parked vehicles.
It will be located at UCSD’s Southwest Plant near the Station A Preliminary Treatment Building. UCSD, along with its partners, will serve improvements that will allow the plant to source more than 70% of its power from renewable sources reducing energy costs and protecting the environment. Urbana officers responded to a report of domestic battery on Sunday, March 2. The victim was discovered with several visible injuries. Upon investigation, the victim provided a video of the 18-year-old suspect brandishing a modded rifle. Further investigation led officers to recover the illegally modified firearm. The suspect was then located, interviewed, and taken into custody on multiple charges.
The 16th Annual Prom Benefit for the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, held Saturday night, raised crucial funds to support the fight against food insecurity, providing over 381,000 meals to individuals in need. The event, which continues to be a beloved tradition in the community, saw attendees celebrating with a Mardi Gras theme and a night of fun, all while supporting a vital cause.
